Royale's Fusion Hybrid L Drives The Greenest Of Luxury Vehicles Tested

Posted on February 3, 2010

Green Ride Global compares the Fusion Hybrid L, the Lexus 400h, and the Lincoln Town Car for fuel efficiency, cost savings, and emissions output.

TORONTO -- Green Ride Global, the Toronto-based provider of sustainability programs for the transportation industry, recently conducted a study analyzing three different types of vehicles under the exact same driving conditions over a 10-day period, and found the Royale Ford Fusion Hybrid L to be the most eco-friendly.

Two Hybrid L Sedans, one Lexus 400h, and one 2008 Lincoln Town Car were compared in the study. Each driver was motivated to achieve the highest possible fuel efficiency rating. Data was gathered, analyzed, and reported on by Green Ride Global staff, said Justin Raymond, President/CEO.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the Hybrid topped the list at 37.2 mpg, with the Lexus coming in second at 24.5 mph, and the Town Car getting 19.6 mpg.

The Hybrid L also won a greener score with slightly fewer Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions (0.6 lbs/mile) compared to the Lexus (0.8 lbs/mile) and the Town Car (1.1 lbs/mile).

While the Lexus showed a 27% emission reduction in the study, the Hybrid had a stronger showing in that category as well, with nearly double the reduction, at 45%.

Again, when looking at fuel savings in dollars, the company using the Fusion Hybrid L saved $3,621, nearly double the extra money the company using the Lexus saved, at $1,531.

Green Ride will be conducting broader tests comparing all Fusion Hybrid L sedans in all Green Ride Global members in the near future, Raymond said.

Royale Limousine Manufacturers of Haverhill, Mass. shook up the green luxury vehicle market last fall when it debuted the Fusion Hybrid L, a QVM-certified black sedan that gets 41 mpg and is stretched six inches for additional legroom and comfort.

Since being unveiled to the industry at the LCT Eastern Conference on Oct. 7, the vehicle has been a big hit with operators looking for the ideal combination of green and black in a luxury vehicle that has broad appeal to chauffeured transportation customers.
