Accubuilt Takes Big Green Leap

Posted on September 22, 2009

Accubuilt, Inc. becomes exclusive installer of ROUSH LPI Conversion System on commercial mobility and shuttle vans.

LIMA, OHIO — Accubuilt, Inc. has entered into an agreement with ROUSH Propane to become its exclusive authorized installer for commercial mobility and shuttle vans.

"Accubuilt likes to stay on the cutting edge of technology and what consumers are asking for," said Greg Corona, Accubuilt President and CEO. "We can see alternative fuel sources as something people want. We know we would be the most qualified supplier to provide this type of solution, so it made sense for us to pursue it."

Joe Thompson, ROUSH Performance vice president and general manager, said "Propane is the third most common engine fuel behind gasoline and diesel, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 19%, and more than 97% is produced in North America. There are over 2,500 public propane fueling stations in the U.S. today and in most cases fleet users will have fueling infrastructure installed at their place of business to support their fueling needs."

Thompson said available tax credits, rebates, and lower fuel prices enable propane to be a strong financial benefit to the user in addition to the environmental benefit. "We've taken an OEM approach to the quality of design, engineering, testing and production of our propane systems. All of our systems will be fully certified by the EPA and CARB," Thompson added.

As part of the arrangement, Accubuilt will develop and maintain a network of qualified installers to handle customers nationwide. Accubuilt and ROUSH will qualify the installation locations to OEM standards and will warranty installation with the same coverage as the original vehicle. The first installations are planned for the fourth quarter of 2009.
