SHOW HIGHLIGHTS: Operators and vendors from along the East Coast, around the nation and overseas converged at Caesars Atlantic City Oct. 27-29 to check out LCT’s long-awaited return to the New Jersey shore — and results exceeded expectations.

LCT Show East, co-produced by the National Limousine Association, was packed with educational sessions that covered industry specific topics such as Obamacare, Super Bowl transportation, Uber and mobile app technology, safety practices, sales techniques, marketing advice, crisis communication and business management.

Keynote speaker Michael W. McCormick of the Global Business Travel Association offered deep insights into the international travel market and overall business travel economy, while keynote speaker Robert “Woody” Johnson of The Johnson Company and owner of the New York Jets kept attendees spellbound with inside tales from his life in business, sports and philanthropy. Operators lined up eager to ask him questions while waiting to pose for pictures afterwards.

The show floor at the Atlantic City Convention Center featured 68 new premium chauffeured vehicles, including the debuts of two next-generation models: The 2015 Cadillac Escalade SUV and the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 premium sedan. And a 2014 Lincoln MKT Town Car was auctioned off by the National Limousine Association to raise money for the Harold Berkman Memorial Fund, with winners John and Doris Sutich of Perfect Limo Service of Montvale, N.J., driving their prize win back home.

Caesar’s Atlantic City was the site of the first-ever limousine industry trade show organized by LCT in 1984, and soon co-sponsored by the NLA after it formed in 1985. That show was held in Atlantic City for most of the years through 1997, after which LCT departed for Las Vegas and started the annual International LCT Show in 1998. This year’s LCT Show East marks a new chapter for the national limousine industry by bringing the brand back to the East Coast.

Given the success of LCT Show East, LCT and NLA are already planning for the NLA-LCT Show East 2014 scheduled for Oct. 19-21 at Caesars Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Convention Center. But first, start getting ready for the next industry gathering which will be the International LCT Show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Feb. 16-18, 2014, an event that builds on the momentum of LCT Show East.
