With many operators calling for a “super-network” of real-time reservations, the founder of GNet updates the progress.
The year before last, during the Las Vegas Limousine & Chauffeur Show, we were speaking with an operator named Raymond from Juneau Limousine. I seem to recall that there was an event coming up in Juneau and Raymond was going to supply us with some photographs for the magazine. Well...Raymond has not been heard from since.
For that matter, we do not hear from readers in many parts of the country. Places like Appleton, Grand Forks, Cheyenne, Abilene, Muskegon, South Bend, Madison, Portland, and Cedar Rapids seem to be silent. You're on our subscriber list so we know you're out there. Let's hear from you. Photos are great too.
You should note from the promotion in this issue that the Limousine & Chauffeur Show is going to be a single "SUPER SHOW in 1989. This should benefit everyone. Producing two shows becomes a costly and time-consuming endeavor. Coachbuilders have to take time from production for the shows, our staff handles twice the load, and you are faced with the choice of which show to visit. We've simplified all that with a single, four-day event that will be most worthwhile.
Most mature industries have a single national event. That is where you find the greatest exchange of information, ideas, and camaraderie. It's unifying. We feel the industry has matured so that a single, grand, national "SUPER SHOW is in order. YOU DESERVE IT!
Baltimore has been chosen as the site of our "SUPER SHOW for a number of reasons (See the story on page 106 of this issue.) With three major airports (Dulles, National, and Baltimore/Washington). access should not be a problem for anyone. Well even be less than an hour from the WHITE HOUSE. But for those of you who have not been to Baltimore lately, you will be in for a big surprise as Ty Bobit and myself were recently. Baltimore's Harborpiace has become a premier example of the Rouse Corporations Festival Marketplace concept. Let's alt meet in Baltimore next March.
