Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker will continue to live in infamy, at least as long as H.A. Thompson has anything to say about it.

The fraud and conspiracy trial of Jim Bakker was the perfect opportunity for Thompson to get some publicity for his limousine company, Rose Limousine, Ltd. in Charlotte, NC.

He and his wife Lucille, dressed in full-head “Jim and Tammy” rubber masks, pulled up in front of the Charlotte Federal Courthouse on the opening day of the trial, in the actual limousine that was once owned by Bakker’s PTL Ministries.

Thompson acquired the 48-inch, six-door Sedan Deville from Arnold Palmer Cadillac after Bakker turned it in. the 1985 limousine has a center console and stereo, but no bar.

“We made the grand entrance and the media went nuts. Hundreds of newspaper photographers and TV cameramen from around the country jumped at us like flies,” explains Thompson. “We didn’t speak…just waved, gave ‘em the V for victory sign…got back in the car after about 10 minutes and rode off into the sunset.”

Thompson and his two sons, Jeff and Andy, operate six cars—three stretches, two Rolls Royces and one Lincoln Town Car. The publicity stunt received media coverage on every TV network, the wire services, and many, newspapers around the country, including USA Today.
