Rita Berkman passed away December 27, 2003

Rita Berkman, co-owner and operator of one of the largest limousine companies in the country, Music Express, died in Los Angeles Dec. 27.

Berkman, along with her daughter Cheryl, was named LCT’s 2003 Operator of the Year, National Network.

She was the wife of the late Harold Berkman, a long-time limousine industry leader who founded Music Express in 1973.

Music Express’ Los Angeles operation was ranked No. 29 in LCT’s 2003 Largest Fleet ranking; its New York-area operation was ranked No. 40.

The company is known for its focus on service, attention to detail and for successfully fighting the unionization of chauffeurs. Rita Berkman was an active member of the NLA and supported many charitable organizations, including the City of Hope (Los Angeles).
