The seventh annual BusCon is set to take place this September 9-11, at the Cleveland Convention Center in Cleveland. BusCon is the nation’s only annual tradeshow that showcases every shape and size of bus, under one roof, at one time. Last year more than 70 vehicles were on display. Vehicles ranged from the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art corporate hospitality motor coaches to limousine buses and the ever-practical and efficient shuttle bus.
It Takes All Kinds
Attendees at BusCon come from a wide variety of industries: basically, anyone who is even thinking about buying a bus can benefit from attending this show. Last year’s show was the biggest in the event’s history, drawing almost 2,000 attendees. In addition to vehicle displays, the show will feature exhibitors from all areas of the bus industry, including insurance, leasing, seating, wheelchair lift, financing, air conditioning, engine, transmissions, tires, flooring, lighting, mobile communications and many other bus component industries. BusCon has grown into a show that occupies more than 100,000 square feet of exhibit space.
The editors of Metro magazine, one of the nation’s leading publications serving the mass-transportation market, have put together a cutting-edge seminar series. Topics include a state-of-the-industry address, insurance trends, driver training and retention, maintenance, new technologies, and government requirements and regulations. Also, for the first time, the Airport Ground Transportation Association (AGTA) will hold its fall meeting during BusCon. They will be running separate seminar tracks specifically targeting the challenges and trends impacting their industry.
What’s New
There will be a myriad of exciting new products launched at BusCon 2001.
Krystal Enterprises will be displaying its newest mid-sized bus. The KK30LF is based on the Ford F-550 with a heavy-duty, low-floor structure.
Federal Coach will feature its newest bus, with a 158-inch wheelbase and a passenger seating capacity of 14, which allows anyone with a valid driver’s license to operate the vehicle.
Michigan-based Champion Bus is introducing a completely redesigned CTS-model bus. The CTS has a European air-flow design and is built on a Freightliner or Workhorse chassis. Alternate fuels will be available.
Cleveland Rocks
