The second annual LCT Eastern Conference, held at the Mohegan Sun Hotel Casino in Uncasville, Conn., met its goals of increasing attendance, providing substantial educational seminars, and bringing chauffeured transportation industry buyers and sellers together. Attendance doubled last year’s inaugural conference. Participants arrived from more than 30 states and from other countries including Canada, Brazil, Iran, and the United Kingdom.

“The conference was a definite success,” said Michael Pazzaneze, New England Livery Association’s (NELA) president. “The attendees were energized and showed a lot of participation in the seminars. And there was great activity on the exhibitor floor.”

First-time attendee Samantha Baker from Huntsville, Ala. was among those impressed. “LCT East was even more than I expected,” she said. “The educational seminars were fantastic, and the networking opportunities were everywhere.”

Exhibitors reported good foot traffic at their booths and brisk business. One coachbuilder had more than $1 million in show-related sales, and a software vendor produced more than $200,000 in sales revenue.

LCT East highlights included:
*Ex-Air Force One Chief Steward Howard Franklin talked about delivering the ultimate level of customer service to the ultimate VIPs — U.S. presidents. Franklin enthralled the audience with inside stories from serving four presidents.

*Robert Alexander, Joe Ciruzzo, Jr., Jon Epstein, and Tim Rose spoke about their companies’ network affiliates, what they expect from them, and how operators can join their teams, to a packed room.

*LCT’s Sara Eastwood and Jon LeSage each gave their own educational seminars; Sara discussed the nuts and bolts of building a winning sales team, and Jon presented the results of the magazine’s first-ever wage and salary survey. Attendees enjoyed networking receptions, luncheons, and a party at hip nightclub Ultra 88.

*The trade show floor was packed with limousines, limo buses, sedans, and exhibitor booths from every category of industry suppliers.

*LCT’s Dr. Limo (Bryan Baker) gave an informative Car Care Clinic in the Demo Theater to a crowd of operators who came equipped with several maintenance problem questions. Stay tuned for details on next year’s LCT Eastern Conference, to be held Sept. 11-12 at the Mohegan Sun.
