Welcome to our 2006 International LCT Show Coverage Issue!

It’s my pleasure to announce a true record-breaking event this past February, thanks to the groundswell support from nearly 4,000 industry professionals, the entire National Limousine Association, and the strongest show of sponsorship support ever lead by our official sponsors — Ford and Cadillac — and our two title sponsors, Krystal Enterprises and Livery Coach Software.

No editorializing this month, as there are too many people I must thank on behalf of LCT beginning with show and educational committee members including Jeff Greene, Rick Brown, Rick Szilagyi, Larry White, Kristen Vasserot, Scott Solombrino, and Ron Sorci, and the all-gal team who organized our Women’s Brunch, which was a huge hit and a sell out. Our seminars were also well received. I owe a debt of gratitude to our speaker line-up. Thank you all! I also want to thank my magazine and show teams, along with the staff at the NLA headquarters, for their teamwork and dedication toward making this show a great experience for all who attended. More than 2,000 hours of pre-show, on-site, and post-show work was done to put a totally fresh face on this year’s seminars and show schedule — yep, I said two thousand hours! And, I am happy to say that not only did operators and their staff come to the International LCT Show in droves, we received more positive feedback this year than I can ever recall in the 15 years at my post.

Most of all, I wish to thank each and every one of you who attended and showed support for LCT and the NLA. You simply cannot imagine the pressure we all feel going into such an event. Imagine throwing a huge party and wondering if anyone thinks enough of you to show up. It’s so stressful!

As you will see from the voluminous pages of show coverage, this event packed a punch. It was exciting to see so much activity on the show floor from coachbuilders (for those who took a “ride” in the DaBryan, you know what I’m talking about). There were huge changes and announcements, too. We witnessed the debut of the Chrysler livery sedan (set for production later this fall), Cadillac rolled out its all-new DTS and Escalade, and we heard from Ford that while the Wixom plant that produces the Town Car will officially close in mid-2007, the company is currently setting the stage to announce the next generation Lincoln livery vehicle, which will continue the Ford Motor Co. limousine lineage far beyond 2007.

As for networking functions and some new exciting ways to get people schmoozing, we got rave reviews for “Mr. President,” who entertained more than 1,500 operators at our opening reception. Krystal Enterprises went way out of its way to show us a good time, too. Krystal actually booked out TAO (ranked as one of the top three hottest nightclubs in Las Vegas) for a private party that welcomed 1,100 people. Our industry awards gala, sponsored by Ford, was all abuzz as 500 of the industry’s elite came to hobnob and rub elbows. This event was followed by Hospitality Night (something we brought back from the LCT Shows of the ‘80s) and was a roaring success with 11 suite parties, complete with their own themes, raging on until midnight. Even our First-Timers’ Breakfast, hosted by Cadillac, was a winner with more than 400 attendees! We hope that those of you who did attend are satisfied with your business investment. If you missed it, check out LCT East (www.lcteast.com). It is essentially a two-day blueprint of our Las Vegas show and a fantastic event in its own right.
