Variety is the Spice of Life

Well, the old saying reads that variety is the spice of life. This saying can be applied to your business life as well as your personal life. We here at LCT have repeatedly gone on record saying that operators can benefit from diversifying their fleets. There?s no better time for this than now.

As you?ll read in our new department, ?Smart Alternatives,? Roger Vartanian of Vartanian Industries, explains how operators have the opportunity to prosper with a diverse fleet. It only stands to reason that a diverse fleet will help an operator be more flexible and able to provide a larger variety of services to its clients. I?ll let you read the department to see Roger?s take on diversity.

I have spoken with a lot of operators, and with the current economic condition, many have said that they aren?t really in the market to buy as many vehicles as they have in the past. However, as you all know, the economy is and will be getting stronger. Operators are streamlining their companies to continue to be profitable and be ready when the economy does come back. This time presents a perfect opportunity for operators to take a look at their fleets and make changes so that they can provide a full range of services to clients. Let?s face it, operators have to come up with unique and creative ideas to find new revenue channels. You should be confident enough that you could provide for the needs of your clients with the vehicles that you have in your fleet. If you don?t have exactly what your client is asking for, or the proper vehicle to get into another market, then you may need to look at making a purchase. And what better time than now?

You may have already been looking to update your fleet. Instead of swapping stretch for stretch, why not look at picking up an SUV, van or even a limo bus? Just one of these will provide added flexibility to your fleet. As always, before you purchase a different type of vehicle, you should do some market research. Find out what your market or the market you?re looking at going into is requesting. Then, armed with that information, make your purchase with confidence. One good place to go to find out industry information and do some tire-kicking of the new vehicles is the LCT Show next month. Yeah, I know this sounds like a blatant plug by the managing editor for our show, but for those of you who have attended the show in the past, you know what a great opportunity it is. There is information about the show throughout this issue. You can also call our show director, Mimi Williams, at (310) 533-2561 if you have any further questions.
