Cadillac has installed the most elaborate camera system on a car to date in its new CT6 model. The Surround Vision camera system can use four of the vehicle’s seven external cameras to record video of the CT6’s surroundings. The four recording cameras are mounted on each side mirror, the front grille and on the rear trunk lid. The other three cameras are used for the Rear Camera Mirror, the Lane Keep Assist system and the Night Vision system.
When activated, the system captures video using all four cameras in a 'round-robin' way, though, only when the CT6 has been disturbed in some way. It can also be used at all other times to provide a 360-degree display to help with maneuvering. The system has a second mode too, which uses only the front and rear mounted cameras to record video while driving.
