DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Company sold 223,418 cars, trucks and utilities in March 2012, a 5% increase from March 2011. This was the best March Ford has had in five years, and the best month ever for the Ford Fusion.
Among the hottest selling models are three vehicles fit for livery applications: Lincoln MKS, Lincoln MKT Town Car, and Ford Flex.
Sales of the Lincoln MKS jumped 59.3 % this year and closed March with 1,689 units sold.
The Ford Flex has benefited from a minor design facelift to boast a 34.9% sales increase from March 2011 with 3,330 units sold in March 2012, moving past the Expedition to be Ford’s second-best selling seven-passenger vehicle, behind the Explorer.
Lincoln sold 785 units of the MKT Town Car in March 2012, which is a 72.5 % increase from March 2011, and the company expects demand to rise as limousine and livery operators begin ordering the vehicle.
