LONDON — As a cold and harsh winter slams London this year, Tristar Worldwide has bought 18 Volvo XC70 Crossvers and 35 XC90 SUV Crossovers to ensure its ability to deliver safe, reliable service to its clients in poor weather.

Tristar chose the Volvo Crossovers for their generous leg room and striking safety features. The XC70 features Volvo’s City Safety technology, which watches vehicles in front with the help of a laser sensor built into the windshield at the height of the rearview mirror. The system will make the car automatically brake if the driver doesn’t slow down in time when the car in front slows or stops, or if the vehicle is moving too fast toward a stationary object.

The XC90 offers all-wheel drive means so the driver is in charge of it at all times.

Dean De Beer, Tristar’s CEO, told The Chauffeur Magazine: “Volvo is well known for its excellent safety features, so come rain, ice or snow, we can be confident that with our new addition of Volvo XC70s and XC90s, we can tackle whatever the British weather throws at us.”

In October 2011, Tristar renewed its deal with Volvo for 2,100 cars to serve its Virgin Atlantic Airways’ Upper Class chauffeur contract.
