LOS ANGELES — At a heavily attended press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Thursday, Lincoln unveiled revamped versions of their luxury crossover and sedan models that are aimed at “progressive luxury customers,” clients who buy luxury products as a form of self-expression. The redesigned MKT and MKS are to be the beginning of the luxury brand’s “rebirth,” although the MKS will not be offered as in a livery version.

Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president of global product development, said the company's goal has been to transform the Lincoln driving experience. “[Lincoln vehicles] will have the responsiveness of a BMW with the comfort of a Lexus,” he said. “Lincoln will be reborn in two phases. [The first step] is freshening and maintaining the current range,” followed by a larger transformation still to come. “[This] is the latest from Lincoln, but not the last. There’s more to come.”

Lincoln design director Max Wolff, formerly of Cadillac, took the stage and said that almost every facet of the 2013 MKT and MKS exteriors are new. “They have a new grill, fascia, wheels, hood, fender and lighting.”  The MKT features a panoramic fixed glass vista roof and the MKS has a trunk whose opening will be a little higher than previous versions.
