Hyundai Equus, Luxury Buses Steal The Show At The Expo

Posted on September 21, 2011

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — A star-studded lineup of luxury vehicles showed up in their best outfits along the Newport Bay waterfront Tuesday evening for the Greater California Livery Association’s red carpet event. The collection included SUVs, sedans, vans, minibuses and even a full-sized luxury motorcoach.

One vehicle that received substantial attention was the all-black, four-seat Equus Ultimate parked along the red carpet. There have been some questions circling the industry about the Equus, mainly about fleet/operator financing options, but there wasn’t a Hyundai representative available who could answer them. LCT will publish the information as soon as it’s obtained.

As far as pricing goes, the fully-loaded Equus is estimated to run for around $68,000. It’s powered by a Tau V8 engine which was voted one of the 10 best engines in the world by auto journal Ward’s and is more powerful than the Lexus LS460, Mercedes S550, and Audi A8.

The Equus Ultimate featured a tan leather interior with walnut accenting and offered the following features:

  •  Heated steering wheel
  • 12-way adjustable driver’s seat
  • Driver’s seat massage feature
  • Forward-view cornering camera
  • Power trunk lid
  • Puddle lamps mounted beneath the outside mirrors
  • Automatic defogging system
  • Lane departure warning system
  • 50/50 split rear seats with reclining function
  • First-class right rear seat with leg extension support and massage system
  • Rear entertainment system with 8” monitor
  • Thermoelectric rear console refrigerator
  • Rear illuminated vanity mirrors
  • Power rear sunshades
  • Winged rear headrests adjustable up to 30 degrees for support and comfort
