DEARBORN, Mich. -- Lincoln plans to cease production of the full-size sedan, which shares its platform with the Ford Taurus, in 2016. The automaker's Chicago Assembly Plant will continue to produce the Taurus, Ford Explorer and their police versions.

[From LCT: The Lincoln MKS sedan officially joined the Lincoln Limousine & Livery Vehicles program in 2013, providing operators a sedan alternative to the crossover utility modeled Lincoln MKT Town Car. The MKS is sold to the chauffeured transportation industry in three different livery-related packages. In 2014, the MKT and MKS combined were the top selling OEM-built limo/livery vehicles in the industry, according to sales figures. Craig Hall, fleet marketing manager for the Ford/Lincoln Limousine & Livery Vehicles program, told LCT today that the MKS sedan will be replaced by the 2016 Lincoln-Continental around May 2016].
