LOS ANGELES -- A chauffeured vehicle dealer offered new details Dec. 10 on the Cadillac CT6, a larger luxury sedan that recalls the glory days of the extended wheelbase Lincoln Town Car and Cadillac DTS sedans.
The CT6 will be nine inches longer and 1.5 inches wider than the Cadillac XTS livery sedan, now the flagship chauffeured vehicle being sold to the limousine industry by Cadillac, said Phil Hartz, CEO of the Acton/SoCal Penske Professional Vehicles national sales network of chauffeured vehicles. Hartz presented the CT6 and some photos Dec. 10 during the annual holiday party of the Greater California Livery Association in Los Angeles. The CT6 was first discussed -- confidentially -- among operators attending the Dav El/BostonCoach affiliate meeting on Oct. 19 during LCT-NLA Show East in Atlantic City, N.J.
The 2016 CT6 will debut in April 2015 at the New York International Auto Show and become available for sale late in the fourth quarter of 2015. Hartz relayed the following details and insights:
- The CT6 will have legroom similar to that of a BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but will be priced about $10,000 to $12,000 less per vehicle than those brands.
- Cadillac will continue selling the XTS livery sedan to the chauffeured transportation operators for at least another two to three years. The official Cadillac livery line-up will include the CT6, XTS, Escalade, and XTS stretch limousine.
- The CT6 will be powered by a twin-turbo V-6 engine avaiable in RWD and AWD.
- Fit and finish will be on par with the 2015 Cadillac Escalade, including hand-cut trim accents and a reshaped grill/nose.
GM/Cadillac plans to offer more details by April 3-15 at the New York International Auto Show in New York City.
