One-of-a-kind VW Beetle limousine up for sale on eBay after 10 years of quality service.

HILLSIDE, N.J.— Beetle lovers beware: you may experience a quickened pulse, slight shortness of breath, and butterflies in your stomach when you peep this one-of-a-kind 1999 Volkswagen Beetle Limousine, owned by New Jersey’s ROUTE-22 LIMOUSINE. And if you’re not falling in love with it, it’s still possible that you may fall in love in it, since it’s popular for proms and weddings.

“When people come in to check out our fleet, especially for weddings, they see the Beetle limo and go, ‘Oh, we have to have that!’” says Oscar Casas of Route-22 Limousine.

Casas bought the new VW Beetle in 1999, then had it modified in 2001 by Ultra Coachbuilders of Corona, Calif. They transformed the 2-door coupe into a 4-door, 6-passenger stretch limousine. “We wanted something very unique, and that’s exactly what we got,” Casas says. “It’s not a car that’s for everyone, like for instance the way a Lincoln Town Car is. We use it for all types of things, but it’s really for Volkswagen Beetle lovers.”

Some of the features this stretch-Beetle boasts are a gray leather interior, mirrored ceiling, fiber-optic “mood” lighting, television and mini-bar, making it a popular pick for proms, weddings and birthday parties. But despite its popularity, the car has now been in the fleet for a decade and Casas says it’s time for a change. He has LISTED IT ON EBAY in the hopes that it will find a new home. The “Buy It Now” asking price is $45,000, and along with the aforementioned features it has new paint (pearl), new rims, new tires, and a spare to match.

The Beetle is just one of several unique cars in Route-22’s “Exotics” limousine line, which also includes a 6-passenger Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 12-passenger Chrysler 300 with Jet Door. In addition to the “Exotics” line, ROUTE 22’S FLEET consists of Lincoln Town Car sedans and stretches, party coaches, stretch SUVs, and several antique Rolls-Royce and Excalibur town cars.
