Economical is not something that is normally associated with luxury car maker Rolls Royce, but that may be about to change.
LONDON — Rolls Royce announced it is planning a zero emissions limousine to sit alongside the Phantom and Ghost in its line-up. Apparently all options for powering the car are being considered, meaning the model could be electric or hydrogen powered.
Before Christmas, the CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes said that an alternatively – fueled model would be a “good idea” for the company. This comes after two years of intense speculation about a top secret electric model.
The new car could potentially be on the road in time for the 2012 Olympics, where parent company BMW is already planning to showcase its environmentally friendly technology with models such as the Mini-E.
The company will be using their cars to ferry VIPs to and from venues, therefore this would be an excellent opportunity for them to introduce new green versions of their cars.
