LAS VEGAS — The “new Ford guy” made his debut at the International LCT Show this week, and offered up some clarity for chauffeured fans of the venerable Lincoln Town Car, the leading market-share sedan workhorse of the industry.
Jeff Nichols, the Global Fleet and Limo Livery manager at Ford Motor Company, told LCT Magazine that as earlier communicated, Lincoln remains committed to production of the Town Car at its St. Thomas, Ontario assembly plant through calendar year 2010.
Nichols stated that at the show he became aware of a calendar year/model year discrepancy while talking to some show participants. He wanted to clarify that Lincoln will make the Town Car for model years 2009, 2010, AND 2011. So if you need to buy one, go ahead.
The chauffeured transportation industry spent much of 2007 and 2008 speculating and rumoring about the successor to the Town Car. In previous statements, Ford officials have hinted at development of a successor model. Ford assures the industry that it is working on future plans and remains committed to providing chauffeured vehicles through 2011MY and beyond.
