Inner Beauty of the 2013 Lincoln MKT

Posted on July 11, 2013 by

Motoring TV has an excellent video showing off the interior bells and whistles on the Lincoln MKT. The test drive in the video features the MKT’s self-parking feature, which performs quicker and more precise than the Lexus self-park, and the dash’s touch-sensitive features are given a walk through. The MKT also has a controlled damping system in its suspension that makes necessary real time adjustments anywhere from 20 to 50 times a second, to deliver controlled handling and a smooth ride.

The MKT has gotten a bad rap for its underwhelming exterior. The host even teases that the MKT is a prime challenger for the Pontiac Aztec’s title of most homely exterior. But as the video shows, the interior technology of the MKT really brings it back to the forefront of luxury transportation. The features were built with both the passenger and chauffeur in mind. There is voice-activated navigation, THX-certified sound system, adaptive cruise control, a backup camera, and a blind spot monitoring system.

The trunk has an automatic opener with a “soft” button by the license plate that opens when you touch your foot to it. And the interior space has a roomy 17.9 cubic feet behind the third row, and 39.6 cu. ft. with the third row folded.

The Lincoln MKT’s self-parking feature automatically parallel parks the car, with the chauffeur managing only the speed of the maneuver using the foot brake.
