Vehicle Utilized as Key Marketing Tool for Operator

Posted on October 1, 1996 by LCT staff

OPERATOR: Linda Bishop, Style ‘N Comfort Limousine

LOCATION: Santa Rosa, CA

VEHICLE: 1966 Austin Princess

FEATURES: Soft gray interior, gray carpeting, right-hand drive, clear slide divider between driver and back, bench seat across the back, two fold-down jump seats, and a light wood-grain contrast.

Linda Bishop, owner of Style ‘N Comfort Limousine in Santa Rosa, CA, has always had a mind for marketing. Realizing that the telephone was key to this business, she made a policy that no one would ever get an answering machine when calling Style ‘N Comfort. “We answer the phones,” she says simply.

Next, Bishop needed a hook. She found it in her garage.

Bishop has always had a passion for vehicles that have personality. “Miz Dasy,” a 1966 Austin Princess, definitely fits the bill. The vehicle features a soft gray interior, gray carpeting, right-hand drive, clear slide divider between driver and back, bench seat across the back, two fold-down jump seats, and a light wood-grain contrast. The car exudes simple elegance.

Bishop’s savvy marketing sense serves her well at bridal shows, where Miz Dasy is most often seen.

“Miz Dasy is a show car, an eyecatching device,” says Bishop, who holds drawings every 15 minutes for discounts on wedding packages. Winners must be present to receive the discount. This tactic is a key source for leads.

When Miz Dasy goes out on runs, Bishop has some strict rules. “There’s no smoking, eating, or drinking in the vehicle,” Bishop tells her clients, and she’s had no complaints.

Then again, Bishop probably would know how to handle people who did not abide by her rules. For six years prior to owning Style ‘N Comfort, Bishop was in law enforcement. “Sometimes 1 offer clients who rent Miz Dasy water,” says Bishop. “However, Miz Dasy is a one-of-a-kind car, so cleaning bills would be extensive.”

Another feature clients enjoy is the fact there is no tint on the windows. “People want to be seen in this car,” says Bishop.

Bishop is an upbeat, positive, hands-on owner, who has utilized Miz Dasy as a key marketing tool for her business. Congratulations to the staff of Style ‘N Comfort, and thanks for the walk down Memory Lane.
