Carey Limousines unveiled a concept car that includes a variety of high-tech and other features aimed at improving the back-seat experience for business travelers.
The features include Wireless Internet, or WiFi, access, which allows passengers to use their computers to access the internet, check e-mail and send faxes via a high-speed connection, according to Carey senior vice president Jon Goldberg.
Another feature is a back seat with a back that reclines and a seat that moves forward, allowing passengers to stretch out and make full use of the extra legroom in the car.
There also is an upgraded passenger workstation that is recessed when not in use and a beverage cooler.
The car has been modified by Royale Limousine Manufacturers.
It is an upgraded version of the standard Carey Car, the Ford Executive Sedan L Series.
The car was set to go into service in New York and a second one was in the works, Goldberg said. It was unveiled at the recent National Business Travel Association conference, where it was a “tremendous hit” with travel managers, Goldberg said.
The WiFi access feature is tested in several big city standard Carey Cars.
