The bus industry also promotes green programs. Motor Coach Industries created its Go Green campaign linked to its website, which offers a toolkit for communication documents, a fact sheet, and a green glossary of terms.
Last year, MCI sponsored the United Motorcoach Association’s first-ever Green Highway Award at its Vision Awards Banquet in San Francisco; this year, the award was won and accepted by Gary Bauer, president of the San Francisco-based chauffeured transportation company.
The American Bus Association has been getting attention for promoting the values of the bus experience in supporting green concerns. Its promotional presentation is called, “Save a Penguin. Take a Motorcoach,” and shows a flock of penguins exiting the capitol building and going home on a bus, signifying the benefits of motorcoaches providing the most fuel-efficient way to travel and helping to save ice caps from melting.
