One of the most important amenities inside a luxury chauffeured vehicle is the seat. It provides one of the first client impressions and defines the ride. The overall comfort, look, and design of the seat will determine the client experience.

FMS Seating provides the chauffeured transportation industry with the most upscale, advance-designed seats on the market. FMS Seats are found in vehicles ranging from small shuttle vans to full-size coaches.

Created three years ago under parent company Freedman Seating, FMS services the high-end luxury seating demands of the ground transportation industry. “FMS is solely focused on executive seating,” says Christy Nunes, managing director of FMS Seating, who has more than 20 years of experience with Freedman. “All of our products are made with high-end materials because we want our customers to have a real luxury experience for the price.”

With a separate division devoted to the high-end market, Freedman can work closely with the limousine industry and respond quickly to customers, Nunes says. Combined with the experience and resources of Freedman Seating, FMS is turning out high-quality seats that are earning high marks from operators using them in the field.

Responses From The Road

The Trieste seat is part of the Eleganza Collection from FMS, featuring wire mesh grid seat springs for support, deep side bolsters for comfort and style, and an array of stitching patterns and colors. “We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on the Trieste seat,” says Nunes on the latest product release. “The Trieste has an adjustable shoulder belt, and operators are saying they really like the comfort and the look and we’ve had a great response from the bus market.

“All of our seats are available in various sewing styles,” Nunes adds. “No two seats have to be the same. We can customize the look and come up with a sewing style and stitching color that matches your brand.” The seats, rigorously tested at the Freedman facility, are not only designed for luxury and comfort, but also comply with all federal safety requirements.

The versatility of using a smaller, focused team at FMS, along with the testing facilities and procedures of Freedman Seating, allow FMS to provide strong customer service to operators, she says. “We’ve got the small company mentality but with the resources of a large company, so we can provide agility and speed to our customers and deliver consistent quality at volume.”

For FMS Seating, seatbelts have become a priority as legislation changes the requirements for different size vehicles. The Trieste seat has become popular for its three-point adjustable belt that can fit people of all sizes, even small children. Nunes says she works with clients to help promote seatbelts in all vehicles. Although many vehicles are not required to have seatbelts, she advises using them to protect passengers.

The Napoli also is available with tan leather inserts fastened with high-quality stitching.

“From our standpoint, we want to be the leader in executive seating,” Nunes says. “We want to come up with innovative products that meet the functional and style needs of our clients, as well as safety.” Looking toward the future, Nunes says she wants to offer more seat designs and further innovate on the overall quality of luxury seating.

“We’d like to create more products with unique looks, and also integrate more with seatbelts. For us at FMS, we are constantly looking at different seating designs and watching for the newest seats out there. We make sure our designs are always current and contemporary, and we’re looking forward to the feedback we’ll get from the new seating looks we’re soon bringing to market.”
