Bright Outlook for 2002 Cadillac

As the new model year approaches, Cadillac is readying to debut its 2002 limousine and livery models, full of improved engineering and technology.

Limousine Package The 2002 Limousine (V4U) Package has engineering enhancements that ease coachbuilder conversion and that were specially designed to withstand the rigorous work of limousine service. There are numerous technologically advanced components on the V4U limousine chassis that you won’t find on the retail equivalent. Those unique parts include suspension and steering components, braking system, 8-lug wheels, a 106-inch extended main body wiring harness, etc. This yields a GVWR of 7,250 lbs. when properly equipped.

The body itself is strengthened for added durability. “Cadillac limousine chassis have over 200 additional welds and over 30 strategically placed body reinforcements,” says Dave Ransom, Cadillac professional vehicle manager.

Long Stretch Package If you are looking for a stretch up to 130 inches, you will want to consult with your Cadillac Limousine Dealer (CLD) or Cadillac Master Coachbuilder (CMC) and consider ordering a Cadillac V4U chassis with the WC5 long car package. This option comes with heavier-rated LT tires, hydro-boost brakes, an enhanced HVAC compressor with 38 percent more capacity, an auxiliary 50-amp alternator and a 136-inch wiring harness. It provides a gross vehicle rating up to 7,485 pounds. Livery Sedans For livery applications, the Cadillac DeVille livery sedan (W20) package includes an engine oil cooler, space-saver spare tire with an optional full-size, rear reading lamps and rear vanity mirrors. “Since the release of the new DeVille, our livery sedan business has dramatically increased,” Ransom says. “We are planning for an even stronger sales year in 2002.”

Sophisticated Northstar System The Northstar system has proven to provide a fantastic powertrain for Cadillac. “With 275-horsepower and a 32-valve dual overhead cam, it’s a sophisticated engine that has exceptional performance, durability and reliability,” Ransom says. Features include a 100,000-mile tune-up interval (except for routine fluid and filter replacements), Dex-Cool long-life engine coolant that extends serviceability and change intervals to 150,000 miles or five years, and it utilizes regular-octane fuel. Additional system components include a four-speed, electronically controlled automatic transmission, full speed-range brake and engine traction control and antilock brakes.

Standard OnStar Service Press the OnStar button in the vehicle, and a highly trained advisor will answer you by name, any time of the day. OnStar is a high- tech system utilizing GPS satellite technologies to assist you with routing assistance, restaurant reservations — even emergency road services. “When required, the driver need only press the emergency button to reach an OnStar operator,” Ransom says.

OnStar service is standard for one year with all 2002 limousines and livery sedans, including the concierge feature. After the first year, there are various OnStar service levels to choose from.

Cadillac Owner Support Cadillac professional vehicle after-sale owner support includes warranty programs and service agreements. The Cadillac base warranty is a 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Both Cadillac limousines and livery sedans are also covered under an extended service agreement for 36 months or 150,000 miles at no additional cost.
