MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- LCT Magazine has lined up a panel of well-qualified experts for the 2013 LCT Leadership Summit who will discuss how Uber and mobile-app technology are changing the operating platform of limousine services.

Panelists will share robust insights and varying viewpoints that address two overriding questions defining the future of chauffeured transportation: 1) How will limousine companies be run with tablet and mobile technology? 2) How will such technology change the managed versus unmanaged travel markets?

Tech experts comprising "The Big Picture" panel include:

Amy Harris, senior vice president and general manager of Deem Ground, formerly Global Ground Automation, will point out how mobile technology is disrupting managed travel and how the chauffeured transportation industry should compete going forward.

At Issue

Business travel has traditionally been managed by corporate travel managers who set corporate travel policy for employees. Employees typically have to go through a portal (such as Egencia) to book their travel. Now, more and more business travelers, especially younger Gen Y travelers, want the freedom to book and handle all of their travel via mobile apps.

Mobile app technology is making it possible for smartphone and tablet users to bypass the traditional managed travel processes.

Moderated by Anderson, the panel will draw upon opposing viewpoints of Harris and DePasquale.

Harris believes mobile technology, as it relates to chauffeured ground transportation, is disrupting managed travel and creating a dangerous situation for operators. She will explain what this means and what needs to be done, and how Uber threatens managed travel and the operators who serve it.

Tom DePasquale, co-founder and CEO of Outtask LLC, a subsidiary of Concur Technologies, will appear on the Leadership Summit's tech panel called The Big Picture. He believes thatchauffeured transportation is moving into an era of unmanaged travel, which is why operators must accept and exploit the new reality of mobile app technology.

DePasquale, on the other hand, not only thinks mobile technology will break these barriers and open new doors in the travel space, but that is unstoppable anyway. Whether operators like it or not doesn’t matter. It’s the reality. He believes chauffeured transportation is moving into an era of unmanaged travel, which is why his company has developed RideShare to compete with Uber.
