Once clients fill out their trip information, their request is emailed out to operators in the EmptyLimo database. The trip goes to the first operator to respond, and the client receives confirmation with the company's information.
LOS ANGELES — EmptyLimo.com launched its eponymous iPhone app last week, just in time for the release of the highly anticipated iPhone 4s. The EmptyLimo app, which is available for free download at the iTunes store, allows clients to book their reservation right from their phones and offers them a discounted price.
Operators in the EmptyLimo database receive an email blast with the ride details and the price quote and can accept or decline it. The first operator who responds gets the trip and other operators are notified that the trip is no longer available. The goal is to match clients who have last-minute needs with operators who have vehicles returning from a trip or just sitting around and are willing to fill those seats at a discounted rate.
“We can offer discounted prices because we’re trying to fill empty cars on return trips or double-up on trips,” Matthew Strack, founder and owner of EmptyLimo and Orange County/Los Angeles’ Strack Premier Transportation, told LCT.
EmptyLimo is free for operators and clients. There are no fees associated with signing up for the EmptyLimo database and no commission taken from any of the trips, which is something that differentiates this app from the other industry apps available.
The EmptyLimo service is available in the Los Angeles and Orange County region and will eventually roll out to big cities nationwide. Strack said he’s focusing on the iPhone app for now but will create an app for the Android platform in the future.
Matthew Strack, owner of Strack Premier Transportation, created EmptyLimo from an operator's perspective and is providing it completely free of charge.
