How To Make Meetings Transportation Greener

Posted on February 2, 2011 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

Two industry firms partner on technology that enables meeting planners to count carbon emissions while booking ground transportation for meetings and conventions.

TORONTO — GREEN RIDE GLOBAL (GRG) — a firm that creates and implements environmental sustainability programs for the ground transportation industry — has partnered with Event Ground Global and built a “Carbon Calculator” into their patent pending Manifest Optimization Solutions (MOS) event management system.

MOS, an event management tool developed to streamline the process for meeting and event ground transportation, is designed to reduce the time required to manage that process by up to 80% while delivering up to 30% in cost savings.

MOS, through its partnership with GGA / Rearden Commerce, has established connectivity to the global distribution systems and Web portals giving MOS the opportunity to access more than 95% of the Fortune 500 companies via GGA’s SaturnConnect. This will enable booking agents to effortlessly direct reservations to approved and preferred suppliers ensuring compliance with corporate policies and SMMP (Strategic Meeting Management Programs).

Green Ride Global member companies will be identified in the system to automate green supplier selection for meeting and event planners. Additionally, GRG member companies in the system will automatically generate event specific carbon emissions reports verified by Green Ride Global.

“Incorporating real-time carbon reporting into MOS helps planners comply with key requirements of the forthcoming ASTM Green Meeting & Event Standard,” said Evan Michaels, CEO of EGG. “Working with Green Ride Global brings industry expertise and brand recognition across the meeting planning and business travel industries.”

“The meeting planning landscape is rapidly evolving, with sustainability as a key driver. MOS brings significant efficiency to business operations while addressing all aspects of environmental reporting, thereby, bringing tremendous value to MOS’s end-users,” said Justin Raymond, president and CEO of GRG.
