How To Use Facebook For Business: Part II

Posted on July 31, 2012 by

Facebook’s new Timeline layout allows businesses to tell their company’s story, share deals and promotions with customers, and connect with prospective clients in a compelling, visually driven way. In Part I, I shared three essential tips to maximizing Facebook’s marketing potential. Here are three more that should set you on the right path to leveraging the power of Facebook’s Timeline layout:

1. Feature milestones. The “milestones” feature allows businesses to highlight some of their biggest accomplishments, such as important dates in company history, winning awards, the addition of new vehicles, etc.

2. Pin new promotions every seven days. Next to the “highlight” function at the top right corner of a post is an icon that looks like a little pencil. Click on that to reveal a “pin to top” function. Selecting this anchors your post to the top of your page to make them as visible to page viewers as possible. Pinned stories have a lifespan of seven days, so make sure to pin something new every week.

3. Post more than once a day. The lifespan of a Facebook status update has diminished. Maximize your exposure by posting something to your Facebook several times a day to reach people who are on at different times of the day.
