Asterminds Corps Launches Innovative Mobile Booking Platform

Posted on December 12, 2014 by

Limo operators face an urgent need to come out with apps. The growth of TNCs with on-demand booking through smartphones has revolutionized the reservation process, and operators are seeking platforms that will keep their client service levels competitive.

Asterminds Corps has developed two separate, yet complementary, pieces of mobile software available to limo operators to implement a fully-functional mobile booking app that has GPS locating, easy reservation entry, on-demand capability, and accountability that meets regulations.

The Apps are AsterRIDE and CabOnMobi, which Asterminds Corps premiered in late 2013 with focused marketing efforts through 2014. AsterRIDE is the company’s branded mobile application, and CabOnMobi is a white-label version that limo operators can brand as their own.

Seth Rudin, CEO and manager of Asterminds Corps, says the inspiration for creating a mobile booking platform for transportation companies came from his unsatisfied experiences trying to book on the go. “I was traveling a lot for work,” says Rudin, who has an extensive background in the tech industry. “I was having a hard time getting through to dispatch centers to book rides.” After encountering this in regular taxi applications and in black car service, Rudin thought he could develop something better.

Building From The Beginning

Rudin organized a team of experts in mobile software development to create a mobile reservation app that surpasses competitors. The finished product accomplishes the standard booking and reservation functions along with a number of new business analytic tools to give operators data on specific profit and loss statistics for each vehicle.

“It’s very comprehensive,” Rudin says of the software behind AsterRIDE and CabOnMobi. “We have repeat ride functions, driver tracking, and easy payments for the customer. Then for the limo operator we have average ETA times, dollars per service hours, total fare analytics, and more. These can be sorted by each vehicle.”

CabOnMobi is targeted for limo operators who want their own branded mobile app, but it’s more than just a software purchase. When an operator signs up with CabOnMobi, the Asterminds team will consult with the limo operator on how to market the new app to gain customers.

“The onboarding process for CabOnMobi takes about four to six weeks,” Rudin says. Operators submit information on pricing, logos, and vehicles to be used in service.

A merchant service is connected, after which a testing phase is performed. Asterminds ensures all connectivity is in place and data is accurate. Then once both parties confirm all works correctly, the app becomes available for download in the Google Play and App Store.

Greater Market Potential

With AsterRIDE, fleet managers, including limo and taxi, can sign up to have their drivers accept rides from AsterRIDE. “The app is already built, so we just onboard the drivers,” says Rudin of AsterRIDE. “We meet with the company and they give us the driver’s information. We independently verify background checks, insurance, and permits. Within five to 10 days, the driver’s app will be turned on [and] they’ll get paid one to three days after a ride.” Asterminds Corps does the marketing for AsterRIDE, so limo operators with chauffeurs using the program can access a large affiliate network.

AsterRIDE markets itself to consumers through local advertising and promotions. CabOnMobi is being pitched to limo, paratransit, and taxi operators at tradeshows and industry publications. “The hope is that people see us as the safe choice,” Rudin says. “We have the performance and the analytics, and everyone participating has been vetted.”

Operators pay no start-up costs, and there are no service fees. Asterminds only takes a percentage of completed rides. “This way we stay true to our partner and show our value,” Rudin says.
