[UPDATED: 6/26/13, 9 a.m. PT/Noon ET]

LIVERMORE, Calif. — One week after holding a comprehensive legal seminar on employment laws and rules near LAX on July 8, the Greater California Livery Association will bring the session to the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Employment Seminar will be held Monday, July 15 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 720 Las Flores Road, Livermore, Calif., about 30 miles southeast of downtown San Francisco. Livermore also is easily accessible from Central Valley freeways. The hotel lies close to the heart of Livermore Valley Wine Country.

Operators will gain insight on how to effectively manage employment-related risks and claims. Topics include:

  • Wage and Hour- Meal / Rest Breaks-Overtime, by Lisa Barnett Sween
  • Equal Employment Opportunity Commission-Employment Discrimination, by Lisa Barnett Sween
  • Wrongful Termination / American Disabilities Act, by Charles Thompson
  • Panel Discussion: You Ask, They Tell, by Charles Thompson and Lisa Barnett Sween

"The complexity of labor law creates a great deal of confusion, especially for the small business owners without a team of lawyers and consultants to refer to," said Steve Levin, a GCLA board member and owner of Sterling Rose ransportation in Carlsbad, Calif. "These seminars are a huge tool for those companies trying to do their best to comply with items like wage and hour, legal deductions and reimbursements and a host of other topics. We attended last year and had our eyes opened to a number of items that we needed to change. We are attending once again this year to see how we are doing, and what has changed since last year."

The seminar is available to current GCLA members only and is limited to the first 50 registrants. A continental breakfast and lunch is included.

Official sponsors include Universal Limousine & Transportation, Gateway Global of San Francisco, and the law firms of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Ogletree Deakins.
