FMCSA Updates Motorcoach Safety Complaints Filing Procedure

Posted on January 2, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has made it easier for consumers to file safety complaints about motorcoach companies and drivers through a redesigned National Consumer Complaint Database.

The updated NCCDB offers a user-friendly interface for consumers to file complaints on unsafe commercial motor vehicle operators with more details about the safety complaint.

A new mobile app, the SaferBus app, also gives consumers an easier way to access the consumer complaint database.

“This new app gives Americans the information they need to make smart safety decisions when they book their next bus trip,” Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said. “As college students, families and tour groups start thinking about spring and summer travel, we encourage everyone to use the SaferBus app to look before you book your next bus trip.”

SaferBus provides access to safety records on nearly 6,000 interstate commercial passenger carriers operating in the U.S. today, which includes privately operated motorcoach, school bus and tour bus companies.
