U.S. Justice Department Sues New York Tour Operators

Posted on January 2, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A lawsuit filed by state and federal antitrust authorities on Dec. 11, 2012 alleges that two tour bus operators run an illegal monopoly in New York City’s $100 million market for “hop-on, hop-off” bus tours.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, says Twin America LLC, a joint venture of operators Coach USA Inc. and City Sights LLC, violates competition laws and should be dissolved.

The U.S. Justice Department said in a statement that it filed the suit with New York's State Attorney General.
