Midwest Motorcoach Operators Form New Association

RICHFIELD, Ohio — The Midwest Bus & Motorcoach Association started recently to support the bus and motorcoach industry by providing advice on laws and regulations, and by offering various educational programs, conferences and activities. The association hopes to increase awareness of issues facing bus operations, owners and the general public. It represents members in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Missouri.

The association kicked off its first annual convention on Nov. 9-10, 2011, in Lisle, Ill. Speakers from various industry associations gave presentations, including Michelle Silvestro, assistant vice president and national commercial marketing manager of National Interstate Insurance Company, who discussed to importance of implementing a proactive plan to deal with a catastrophic loss.

“This new organization brings us an excellent opportunity to work together and strengthen the industry through education, safety and the sharing of best practices,” Silvestro said. About a quarter of the Midwest Bus & Motorcoach Association’s members are clients of National Interstate Insurance.
