California Operators Face Crucial TNC Hearing Tomorrow

LOS ANGELES -- Leaders of the Greater California Livery Association and National Limousine Association are planning to speak July 16 at a hearing on TNCs being held before the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Board of Airport Commissioners.

The board will be deciding whether to allow transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft to pick up passengers at the airport, as do limousine services and taxicabs. The GCLA and NLA oppose the proposal.

Speakers will include GCLA President Kevin Illingworth, also a NLA board director and Orange County operator, and NLA board director Ron Stein, also a Los Angeles operator. The groups are asking operators across Southern California and beyond to attend the hearing at 9 a.m. to show support for the industry position. Representatives of TNCs will be present.

The meeting will be held at the Clifton Moore Administration Building, 1 World Way, Los Angeles. It is located on the east side of the central traffic loop of LAX. The easiest way to get there is to come in via Century Boulevard and park in the P-1 parking deck and walk across the street.

"If we overrun the administration building with limousine operators it will show the commissioners more cause not to let in the TNCs," Illingworth told LCT.
