FLA President Rick Versace will host a national industry association roundtable on Transportation Network Companies during the International LCT Show in Las Vegas on March 16.
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Florida Limousine Association (FLA) will hold a national roundtable March 16 on the common issues and strategies that industry trade groups face in countering illegal TNC operations.
The discussion will be held during the International LCT Show at the Venetian & Palazzo Resort Hotel Casinos in Las Vegas at 7 p.m., March 16. The three day Show runs through March 18.
FLA President Rick Versace (A1A Airport & Limousine Service, Boca Raton) will host the roundtable intended to also find out how TNC competition has affected limo operators in their local areas to gain a wider national perspective.
“The purpose is to gather together association board members to identify the impact TNCs are having on their businesses to gauge the overall effect nationally,” Versace said. “We understand that some operators say they are not affected by TNCs and others say they are killing us, so the roundtable will examine the issues from state by state perspective to see what tactics and strategies associations use to combat them.”
For example, Versace noted that a major issue the FLA is fighting deals with contingent, or gap, insurance that allows TNCs to turn on commercial liability insurance when they respond to a an app call. “That’s bull,” he said. “There are too many cracks in that kind of insurance coverage that is not safe for the riding public."
