Miami Officials Help Operators In Tough Times

Posted on July 1, 2009 by LCT Staff - Also by this author - About the author

MIAMI — The Miami Dade Passenger Transportation Regulatory Division (PTRD) and the industry’s Limousine Advisory Group met recently to discuss the how the recession affects the Miami chauffeured transportation business.

As a result of this meeting, the PTRD agreed to extend the time period of the payment to renew for-hire permits by three months and also extend the time frame for vehicle inspections by an additional three months.

Carla Boroday, president of the Florida Limousine Association and a member of the Limousine Advisory Group, said, “This will help operators during a tough period. We are especially happy with the great working relationship the PTRD has with our industry recognizing the need to make this change to help sustain the health of the industry.”

Miami’s convention market is down 30%, according to ACTE. As a convention city in a destination market, Miami has suffered a blow with the AIG effect. Although Miami prices are often lower for conventioneers, the city is overlooked because of the recent perception issues.
