Prestige Limousines Gets Highly Valued City Permits

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Prestige Limousines Inc. of Boca Raton recently became one of only five companies to have permits to pick up within the city of Boca Raton, an upscale oceanfront city amid the South Florida metropolis of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach.

Without these permits, operators cannot legally pick up clients within the city limits.

Staci Garcia, owner of Prestige Limousines Inc., recently obtained the 10 permits for her 10-vehicle fleet.

“Boca Raton has been annexing unincorporated areas into the city over the past five years which included a number of our key clients,” Garcia said. “We believe that it is very important to operate by the letter of the law, so obtaining these permits was critical to us.”

Prestige has been serving Palm Beach County for 21 years. They do not run any traditional advertising, but instead, count on the word of mouth of their clients to secure additional business. In order to apply for Boca Raton permits, Prestige relocated to a 5,000 square-foot facility which would house all of its vehicles indoors as required by the city of Boca Raton.

Boca Raton is among the wealthiest areas of South Florida with the average price of a home at $259,000 and a population of about 86,000. Boca Raton has more than 22,000 businesses. Among the businesses based Boca Raton are Office Depot, resort developer Blue Green Corp., Tyco, and the prestigious Boca Resort.

“There are not enough (limousine) companies permitted in Boca Raton to accommodate the population or the numerous businesses,” Garcia said. “The commercial and residential clients did not have enough choices.”

Carey Limousine recently did not renew its Boca Raton permits which opened the door to justifying the permits to be given to Prestige. Boca has issued only 67 permits to limousine companies.

In Florida, every municipality can require its own set of permits. In addition to city permits, companies working in Boca Raton also must have permits from Palm Beach County for vehicles for hire. In order to remain competitive, companies such as Prestige also hold Broward Luxury Sedan permits, Broward County Aviation permits, Miami/Dade Aviation permits, Port of Miami permits, and Port Everglades permits.

Prestige Limousines Inc.’s fleet of black vehicles include L-Series Lincoln Town Car sedans, vans, SUVs, including hybrids, stretch limousines, and a 1953 Vintage White Original Stretch Desoto for weddings.
