A Goloa sponsored anti-TNC billboard campaign has helped spur police to ticket Uber and Lyft drivers
ORLANDO, Fla. — Police here are alerting the insurance companies of TNC drivers who are ticketed for operating illegally, an innovative tactic to halt the illegal activities of Uber and Lyft.
A Channel 9 Eyewitness news report of the new police tactic quoted Cliff Wright, (Royal Transportation Group) and president of the Greater Orlando Limousine Association (GOLA), who said, “The law is clear. Once a driver picks up a paid fare, they’re then commercial and no longer eligible for private insurance.”
Police have been ticketing Uber and Lyft drivers because the companies cannot legally operate in the city. GOLA has been at the forefront of the TNC fight, and recently invested in 28 anti-ride-sharing billboards on Interstate 4 and State Road 408.
