A limousine safety bill inspired by the May 4, 2013 fatal fire on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge that claimed five lives awaits the Governor’s signature after passage Wednesday by the state Legislature.

From LCT: The bill also would repeal the requirement for chauffeured transportation operators to place "livery plates" on fleet vehicles, thereby saving costs and time. Each operator who purchases a new fleet vehicle must pay $40 for the plate. Delivery of livery plates often takes several weeks, which means new vehicles are legally inoperable for that time.
