LOS ANGELES -- Barbara Papp, a Southern California vehicle and limousine vehicle dealer since 1971, received the GCLA Lifetime Achievement Award Tuesday night during an association meeting in Los Angeles. Papp is retiring as commercial livery sales manager at Star Ford Lincoln in Glendale, Calif., on March 31.

Papp has worked in vehicle sales for 41 years, including 22 years as an exclusive limousine vehicle dealer for Lincoln-Ford-Mercury dealerships. Papp most recently has run the commercial livery sales division with her husband, Patrick Papp.

Known as "Barb," she was given a framed certificate and special trophy emblem by the board directors of the Greater California Livery Association, who also cited her decades of service to the association as a member and vendor director. Papp has been one of the leading Lincoln livery dealers in the state, with a long rolodex of clients in Southern California and throughout the U.S. Her enthusiastic and cheerful demeanor and ardent promotion of Lincoln vehicles was a fixture at GCLA meetings, where Papp was known to never need a microphone.

The Papps arrived at the GCLA meeting at the Proud Bird restaurant near LAX Tuesday evening in a complimentary stretch limousine provided by CEO Ed Grech of Krystal Enterprises. Grech bought his first Lincoln Town Car from Barb when he founded his company three decades ago, now the leading limousine coachbuilder in the world.

Barb repeatedly thanked all her industry friends, supporters and clients, and said she would remain in touch via e-mail and phone after she and Patrick, who celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary later this year, eventually move to be closer to children and grandchildren in Texas.

Papp is being succeeded by Vinnie De La Pena, the new director of livery finance at Star Ford Lincoln. De La Pena will be receiving his first 2013 Lincoln MKT Town Cars within a week. He can be reached direct at (818) 502-4636 or [email protected]
