Operator and NLA original George Jacobs' Windy City Limousine ranks as one of the fastest growing transportation operations in the U.S. by Inc. magazine.
CHICAGO -- Windy City Limousine of Chicago ranks 1,328 on the annual Inc. 5000 List of the fastest-growing private companies this year, according to the magazine. It also ranks No. 29 in the transportation and logistics business sector.
Windy City, owned by CEO George Jacobs, was told of the achievement earlier this month. This marks the second year in a row that Windy City is featured on the list. Last year, Windy City Limousine ranked No. 775 on the Inc. list.
Windy City provides limousine, sedan, and bus transportation nationwide. Customers include the Chicago Bulls, Cubs, and White Sox, Harpo Studios, and the Make a Wish Foundation.
The Inc. 5000 listing reports that Windy City earned $12.3 million in revenues in 2010 and has seen a three-year growth rate of 217%. Founded in 2006, Windy City has 250 employees. It ranks No. 20 on the 2011 LCT 100 Largest Fleets List with 143 vehicles.
For more than 30 years, the Inc. list has recognized the accomplishments of the nation's leading entrepreneurs. "This year's list is a testament to the creativity, resilience and tenacity of America's top entrepreneurs," Jane Berentson, editor-in-chief of Inc. magazine wrote in a letter to Jacobs. "Inc. recognizes the creativity, dedication, and hard work that have gone into building Windy City Limousine and Bus into what it is today and wishes you many more years of success."
Jacobs told LCT: "We have an expression here to “Think Like an Owner” and I believe all employees, both in the office and on the road, follow that philosophy. They just care so much."
Jacobs, a member of the board of directors of the National Limousine Association, also was a speaker on management and delegation strategies at the 2011 International LCT Show in Las Vegas.
