LAS VEGAS, Nev. — New technologies are radically disrupting the transportation industry, part of a vast second wave of disruption generated by faster, cheaper, and smaller digital technologies.
That has been the leading industry challenge for the last few years, and is the prime topic for a general session at the 2015 International LCT Show in Las Vegas, March 16-18. Best-selling author Larry Downes, also an Internet industry analyst, will talk about how to develop business strategies in an age of constant technological disruption.
The session takes place Tuesday, March 17 from 10:45 a.m. to Noon at the Venetian - Palazzo Resort Casino convention center.
Downes is co-author of the new book, “Big Bang Disruption,” which describe the forces at play — technological, economic, and policy. Based on a multi-years research project in conjunction with the Accenture Institute for High Performance, he will also describe winning — and losing — strategies incumbent providers can adapt not only to survive but to thrive in the new world they find themselves inhabiting.
Co-authored with Paul Nunes, “Big Bang Disruption” challenges the conventional wisdom of business strategy and disruptive innovation, arguing that exponential improvements in core technologies have created a new kind of disruptor, one that enters the market better, cheaper, and more innovative than existing products. He writes regularly for The Harvard Business Review, Forbes, CNET, and The Washington Post, covering the intersection of technology, politics and business.
