SUMMARY: The presentation on the limousine, charter and tour industry underscores the growing demand for group transportation and buses of all sizes.

CHICAGO — LCT Publisher Sara Eastwood told leading mid-size bus builders Tuesday that chauffeured transportation operators are steadily expanding their fleets to include multiple buses of varying size and interior style.

Eastwood spoke to the MID-SIZE BUS MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION meeting at the Navy Pier convention hall in Chicago, which was the site this week of BusCon Conference & Expo. BusCon is the leading equipment and product trade show for the bus industry.

The presentation — which summed up the trend toward more diverse fleets and group transportation that LCT has reported in recent years — was also symbolic, since Chicago this week was the site for the LCT Leadership Summit held one mile away in downtown.

The Summit drew more than 150 owners, operators, and executives of chauffeured transportation companies worldwide for several days of networking and education. On Thursday, Summit attendees visited the BusCon expo floor for the first time to peruse the 60 buses and 142 exhibitors.

Eastwood underscored LCT’s mission as a premier marketplace and information provider for motorcoaches, mini-buses, and vans, and emphasized the magazine’s role in helping operators of such vehicles improve their operations and profits.

Operators are finding such vehicles are increasingly meeting the demands of more budget-conscious corporate, business travel, and meetings and events clients, Eastwood told the representatives of the mid-size busmakers.

Buses and mini-buses also have become more visible in recent years on the show floor at the annual International LCT Show in Las Vegas. The 2011 INTERNATIONAL LCT SHOW will be held Feb. 14-16, 2011 at the Paris Las Vegas.

BusCon, its host, Metro Magazine, LCT Magazine, and the International LCT Show are all owned and operated by Torrance, Calif.-based Bobit Business Media.

The MSBMA is an industry division of the National Truck Equipment Association, based in Farmington Hills, Mich.
