After a close friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, Carrie Peele decided to do all she could to fight the disease, starting with painting a stretch limousine pink.
RALEIGH, N.C. — The “Think Pink” motto has now gone mobile.
BLUE DIAMOND LIMOUSINE & SEDANS LLC, the largest woman-owned limousine company in the Carolinas, is “cruising for the Cure” all over North Carolina. A pink 10-passenger limousine has been added to the company’s fleet.
“I got a phone call from a friend of mine, Brenda, who had recently discovered that her breast cancer had spread,” said Carrie Peele, founder and CEO of Blue Diamond. “I wanted to help, but knew that I was helpless to fight the disease for her. So, I did the only thing I could do — I bought a limo and made it pink!”
The custom painted limousine will be seen all over North Carolina, as well as many statewide events. Each time the limousine is reserved, ten percent of the fees will be donated to Breast Awareness Organizations.
“I wanted these brave women, and now men, to know that they are the true heroes,” said Peele.
Blue Diamond has partnered with several breast cancer awareness foundations and is donating 10% of all revenue back to the cause. “We have already booked this vehicle at 30 breast cancer events within the next few weeks,” Peele said.
In addition to donating proceeds from each rental, Peele is also taking her survivor recognition one step further. As the founder of the Triangle Power Lunch, a monthly luncheon series dedicated to showcasing successful women in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, she will be using the luncheon as a chance to recognize survivors in her area.
“Every month, we will invite a different survivor to our luncheon,” Peele said. “She and her guests will be picked up in the pink limo, receive the full ‘red carpet’ treatment, invited for lunch, and have the opportunity to discuss her journey and her courage.”
Each survivor and their guests will have a special place at the Heroes Table, a table completely decorated in pink to raise awareness of breast cancer. “I want survivors all across North Carolina to know that they are remarkable individuals and should be honored,” Peele said.
As residents make their daily commutes, they may recognize that the roads just got a little bit more colorful. Thanks to breast cancer survivors everywhere, our world is a little bit more courageous.
