SIMPLE START-UP: One-Stretch Operation Opens

SUMMARY: Despite all the industry hits and hard times, one Pennsylvania operator is banking on a traditional stretch limousine.

PALMYRA, Penn. — Doug Cheyney is hoping corporate clients will drive his new business.

Cheyney recently opened Adventure Limousine in South Londonderry Township, his third business venture. He also operates Cheyney Property Maintenance and Eco Green Clean Pro, a carpet-cleaning business.

His mother, Josie Ames, is CEO of Ames Services, a diversified cleaning and building maintenance firm. "We're an entrepreneurial family," Cheyney said.

For now, Adventure Limousine is a one-vehicle operation with an eight-passenger Lincoln Town Car stretch limousine.

While the economy is starting to show signs of growth, Cheyney knows many businesses are still operating on tight budgets.

He hopes Adventure Limousine can offer business clients the ability "to entertain clients and work around thin budgets. We can customize programs for each business."

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in nearby Grantville is a popular destination for clients looking for a fun evening, Cheyney said, even more so now that table games have started.

"We get a lot of requests to go to Hollywood Casino for the night," he said. "You can have fun for a couple hours and feel like a millionaire."
