LOS ANGELES — The staff at Econation, a green-vehicle chauffeured transportation company, is mourning the death of Nick Martinez, a dispatcher they had admired for his strong and humble work ethic.
Martinez, 30, died late Sunday night in a Los Angeles hospital of complications from a sudden bout of pneumonia that he had developed last week. He leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter, Maraya. Although he only worked at Econnation for one year, Martinez was considered a close friend and member of the working family.
“As a single father, Nick lived for Maraya and did all he could to provide a nice life for her,” said Econation managing partner Ben Bloch in a statement on behalf of the staff. “[Nick] was known as a good man who was very humble, never forgot where he came from, and always looked out for others.”
ECONATION has established a memorial fund to help Martinez’s extended family and daughter with the funeral expenses. Several members of the Greater California Livery Association made contributions on Monday.
For information on the funeral or how to make contributions, please contact Joel Stein, email@example.com or send to Deloris Martinez, 11150 W. Olympic Blvd, #870, Los Angeles, CA 90046.
