MARLTON, N.J. -- The National Limousine Association hired a new deputy executive director this week and a new membership coordinator the week before.

Kyle S. Hammerschmidt joined the staff on Monday, June 2 as deputy executive director. He brings extensive non-profit trade association experience to the NLA. He previously worked more than six years for an association representing the interests and affairs of communities in New Jersey. In that role, Hammerschmidt handled multiple association duties. He is a graduate from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., with a B.S. degree in finance and was a four-year letter winner on the baseball team. Hammerschmidt lives in Yardley, Penn., with his wife, Paulina, and their 10-month-old daughter, Olivia. He enjoys family time and activities, golf and travel.

John L. Torrence joined the NLA on May 27 as its new membership coordinator. He has experience in non-profit membership management and trade publishing. Torrence previously worked for a non-profit organization that actively provides education, training resources and services in safety throughout Delaware. Born and raised in Wilmington, Del., he holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in publishing from Rosemont College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Delaware State University. Torrence, who lives in Philadelphia, enjoys shopping, family time and basketball.

The hirings bring the Marlton, N.J.-based NLA administration back to full staff under the leadership of executive director Philip Jagiela, who joined the NLA in November 2012. The NLA staff is employed by Bobit Business Media, also the owner of LCT Magazine, which has a management contract with the NLA. LCT Publisher Sara Eastwood-McLean serves as liaison among BBM, LCT and the NLA. The NLA, which has 2,000-plus operator-members, coordinates and plans the industry educational seminars at the annual International LCT Show in Las Vegas, Nev., and LCT-NLA Show East in Atlantic City, N.J.

“We are pleased to add two association management professionals to our team,” Jagiela said. “Both individuals bring experience and enthusiasm to complement the support we have provided to the National Limousine Association. With the desire to provide even greater increased value to our NLA members, we are certain our office will meet their needs.”
