The casualties of the Middle East crisis include more than just our gas tanks. Those who are really hurting are the children of our service men and women half way around the world trying to keep peace on this planet.
It was for these children that Jon Chester, owner of Limousines by Linda in San Diego, organized a special event at an elementary school for the progeny of military personnel.
The event included a limousine entourage of five stretches and one sedan of 1989 Lincoln’s and 1990 Cadillac’s which brought such notables as a Top Gun pilot from Vietnam, Shamu from Sea World, and Congressman Duncan Hunter who is a member of the Armed Services Committee.
Each of the 900 students received a certificate of bravery from the congressman. A flag from the White House and a letter from President Bush were delivered to the school.
The day was a success all around. The children eagerly awaited autographs from the celebrities. Four radio stations and all three networks showed up to cover the happening.
Chester organized the event because “after seeing a TV news story about how hard [Hancock Elementary School] was hit, I wanted to do something to recognize the kids for their courage and sacrifice.”
